Green Hour: “Artistic Green Studies. A Conversation With the Artist” (Eva-Maria López)

Thursday

June 13
12:00 PM - 01:00 PM
2024

Garden consisting of herbicide-resistant plants, photographed from a bird's eye view, diameter approx. 11 m, realised in Bourges France

Plants are all around us.

In fields, urban areas or in living rooms they tell us about changes induced by climate change and modern agriculture.

They testify the frightening loss of biodiversity

going hand in hand with the greenwashing for a ‘better world’.

Eva-Maria Lopez is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Karlsruhe and Paris. After receiving the master’s degree in agriculture, she studied art at the Academy of Fine Art in Karlsruhe, Germany. Due to this background, issues relating to nature and environment have an important impact on her art. Working with the themes of nature, ecology and their historical contexts., she explores the relationship between object and environment. Her sensitivity to the destruction of natural habitats and resources, as well as socially anchored structures in contemporary societies, is highly visible. In her work, Lopez places various realities in new contexts and thereby make them visible.
