Masterclass: The ecological crisis and the irrationality of modern rationality (Prof. Dr. Oliver Schlaudt)

Monday - Saturday

June 30 - July 26 2025

This Masterclass explores a fundamental question: Why do we often experience ourselves as separate from nature—and what needs to change for us to reconnect meaningfully?

Together, we will examine how modern societies produce this sense of disconnection through ways of thinking, technological practices, and economic systems. The goal is not just critique, but to search for new perspectives:

  • How do science and technology shape our relationship with nature?

  • In what ways does the economy obscure our dependence on natural systems?

  • And what alternative ways of thinking and acting could support a more sustainable future?

The Masterclass offers space for interdisciplinary dialogue, critical reflection, and collective exploration of how we might rethink our place in the natural world in times of ecological crisis.
