Softskills Workshop “Disciplinary Expertise in the Interdisciplinary Environmental Humanities”: Schneefernerhaus

The IDK offers a set of softskills seminars that are specifically geared towards the PhD students who study in our program. The secluded space of the Schneefernerhaus – located just below the tip of Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze – is the perfect setting for these courses: the calm atmosphere, and the beautiful setting in the middle of the alpine landscape facilitate a thinking beyond the usual restraints of academic work and routines and are a perfect space for strengthening ties with the IDK community and for networking. The first workshop is dedicated to the early phase of writing a dissertation.

The trip also includes a guided tour of the Schneefernerhaus: built as a hotel (it opened in 1931) it is now used as an environmental research station.
