Sule Emanuel Egya is not only a distinguished scholar of African literatures and Environmental Humanities but also a poet and fiction writer. His poetry reading dealt with a wide spectrum of topics, reaching from ecological conditions in his native Nigeria to a guest professor’s European encounters. Pain and sorrow, humor and close observation were rendered in the musical, vivid, and complex language that only poetry–and great poets–can provide. The audience was moved and impressed.
