Dolly Jørgensen

Dolly Jørgensen is Professor of History at University of Stavanger, Norway. She is co-editor-in-chief of the journal Environmental Humanities and co-directs The Greenhouse Center for Environmental Humanities at UiS. Her research agenda focuses on cultural histories of animals, with a recent emphasis on the implications of extinction for cultural heritage and museum practices. She has written The Medieval Pig (Boydell, 2024) and Recovering Lost Species in the Modern Age: Histories of Longing and Belonging (MIT Press, 2019), and her book Ghosts Behind Glass: Encountering Extinction in Museums will be published by University of Chicago Press in 2025. She has also co-edited five volumes, most recently Sharing Spaces: Technology, Mediation, and Human-Animal Relationships (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2024).
