Imke Hoppe
I am a professor of Earth Science Communication and Climate Education. My work focuses on empirical and conceptual research in climate and sustainability communication, with a particular emphasis on constructive, solution-oriented approaches. Within the doctoral program, I am especially interested in interdisciplinary research on narratives, the role of the humanities and social sciences in (public) climate and sustainability communication, and on fostering transformative action. My theoretical perspective as a communication scholar encompasses science communication, political communication, media effects research, and audience studies. Additionally, my research interests include the role of technology, particularly in areas such as transportation and Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR). I bring extensive expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research.
I will join the program as advisor in October 2025.
