Katja Sarkowsky

I am an Americanist with a specific interest in contemporary anglophone literatures in Canada and the United States. In particular, my research focuses on Indigenous literatures and their conceptualizations of human- and more-than-human relations; life writing and the environment; the intersections of literature with law and/or political theory; and the role of ‘water’ in literary texts and cultural concepts.
Since 2018, I hold the Chair of American Studies at Augsburg University; prior to Augsburg, I held the Chair of American Studies at the University of Muenster.

I will join the program as advisor in October 2025.
